combo skin type

Combo skin is exactly what it sounds like: a mix of both oily and dry skin. Typically, skin that is oily in the T-zone (nose and forehead) and dry throughout the rest of the face. Conditions may fluctuate due to seasonal changes; however, personal genetics and product over-usage can play a big role in this skin type.

Types of combo skin

1. Dry combination

  • dry cheeks; oily T-zone

2. Normal combination

  • cheeks are not dry or oily; T-zone is oily

How to take care of your combo skin

Exfoliate with a natural BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) that will improve skin texture and reduce redness. Use a mild cleanser to maintain and balance your skin's oil levels. Avoid oil-based products that might clog pores, especially in the T-zone. Always use alcohol-free toners! This is essential to ensure you don't throw off your skin's oil production because using alcohol-based products strips the skin, making it prone to overreaction and the overproduction of oils. Mix and match. Don't forget to moisturize using gel-based moisturizers starting in the morning and finishing at night.

Makeup tips for combo skin

Foundation: lightweight non-clogging liquid base topped with powder/ baking in the T-zone to seal in the oils. Don't forget your blotting pads!

Setting spray: set your makeup with a mattifying, hydrating spray to help with the dry areas of the skin.
