Why Buyer Beware is More Relevant Than Ever

In a world where we can find out anything and everything with just a few taps on our phone, it's easy to assume that the most popular products are also the best. But is that really the case? I'm here to tell you that when it comes to skincare, the answer is a resounding no.

Just because a product is popular doesn't mean it's the best choice for your skin. I should know; I've tried them all. Trust me when I say that you're better off spending your money on something else.

Here are just a few of the popular skincare products that are actually terrible for your skin:

1. Harsh cleansers You might think that using a harsh cleanser will get rid of all the dirt and grime on your face, but all it will really do is strip away your natural oils and leave your skin feeling dry and irritated. Opt for a gentle cleanser instead. Your skin will thank you for it!

2. Physical exfoliants Physical exfoliants (aka scrubs) might feel satisfying to use, but they're actually quite harsh on your skin. Not only can they cause irritation, but they can also lead to microtears in the skin, which can lead to infection. Yikes! Stick to gentle chemical exfoliants instead.

3. Alcohol-based toners Toners are supposed to be used to balance the pH of your skin, but many popular toners contain alcohol, which can irritate and dry out your skin. If you must use a toner, make sure it's alcohol-free. Your skin will be much happier for it!

4. Oil-based makeup removers Oil-based makeup removers might seem like they would be good for your skin since they're made with natural ingredients, but in reality, they can clog pores and lead to breakouts. If you insist on using an oil-based makeup remover, make sure to follow up with a water-based cleanser afterwards to remove any residue.

Just because a product is popular doesn't mean it's necessarily good for your skin, do your research and make sure to PATCH TEST!
