How to protect your skin during winter

As the temperatures start to drop and we say goodbye to summer, our skin often feels the brunt of the change in season. The harsh winter winds can strip away moisture, leaving skin feeling dry, tight and flaky. But don't despair, there are steps you can take to combat dry skin and maintain a healthy glow all winter long!

1. Invest in a good moisturizer.

Look for one that is oil-based and contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin or dimethicone, which can help lock in moisture. Apply it generously all over your body immediately after showering or bathing while your skin is still damp. This will help seal in hydration.

2. Take shorter showers.

Hot water can strip away natural oils from your skin, leaving it feeling dry and irritated. Stick to lukewarm water instead and keep your showers brief (5 minutes or less). Gently pat your skin dry with a towel afterwards - don't rub!

3. Use a humidifier.

Dry indoor heat can zap moisture from the air, making your skin feel parched. A humidifier will help add much-needed moisture back into the air, keeping your skin hydrated. Be sure to clean your humidifier regularly to prevent the growth of mold or bacteria.

This one goes without saying - staying hydrated from the inside out is key to maintaining healthy looking skin year-round. aim to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day (more if you exercise frequently). You'll not only improve the appearance of your skin, but you'll also enjoy other health benefits like increased energy and better digestion!

Winter weather can be tough on our skin but following these simple tips can help you enjoy healthy and hydrated skin all season long! Wishing you all a happy and healthy winter!
